invites applications for the post of Senior Program Officer – Business ecological footprint reduction India’s rapid economic growth is leading to new and increased conservation challenges at multiple levels. WWF India, the country’s largest conservation organisation seeks to address these challenges through addressing both biodiversity conservation and humanity’s environmental footprint. Our current programme areas include Climate Change & Energy, Sustainable Forest Management, Water Resources/River Basin Management, Sustainable Agriculture, Species and Landscape Conservation, Marine and Freshwater Conservation. These programmes work across sectors and regions in various parts of the country. In addition to conservation of biodiversity through field programmes, WWF India also aims to transform the policies and practices of key industrial sectors to reduce their ecological footprint and develop innovative sustainable solutions. We, at WWF-India are looking for a dynamic and motivated individual to support WWF’s engagement with business and industry, as part of its Market Transformation Initiative (MTI). MTI is WWF’s global initiative, created to address the adverse impacts of markets and commodities on WWF’s conservation priorities. WWF has identified about 15 global commodities (e.g. cotton, palm oil, soy, sugar, paper, timber, shrimp, etc) that are causing this environmental damage. MTI’s primary rationale is to transform markets, towards sustainable production and consumption of these commodities. The incumbent will primarily support WWF-India’s palm oil engagement initially. Job Responsibilities involve: • Conducting and coordinating research to identify key industry players for key commodities identified above • Assisting in developing and managing relationships with business accounts and external stakeholders such as industry associations, NGOs, multilateral institutions • Facilitating workshops with businesses to promote sustainable production and consumption of these commodities • Working closely with WWF’s global network and international teams related to market transformations • Liaising with donors to ensure timely monitoring and reporting to them • Representing WWF India at workshops and various forums • Hiring and managing interns • Keeping abreast of relevant industry sectors and national and international environmental policies and standards Prerequisites for the position include: • An advanced degree in natural sciences, social sciences, international development/international policy, management or a relevant field; • Technical proficiency or experience in the field of Corporate Social Responsibility, natural-resource management or development with a focus on policy issues related to a relevant sector; • At least 5 years of relevant industry experience • Experience in engaging with business and industry sectors, to change practices and behaviours; Desired Skills: • Strong negotiation and advocacy skills • Excellent communication skills (written, oral and presentation) Location: Flexible in India The salary and benefits will be commensurate with the candidates experience and academic background and the overall WWF-India salary structure.
