invites applications for the post of Senior Coordinator – Capacity Building The Species Conservation Programme of WWF India is one of the largest programmes of the organisation with great potential for further expansion. The programme works at the landscape scale with a focus on conservation of tigers, elephants and rhinos in the Terai, Sunderbans, Central India, NE India and Western Ghats. WWF-India is looking for an individual with exceptional resourcefulness and a commitment to support the Species Conservation Programme in managing the Capacity Building initiative being undertaken by WWF India and the Uttarakhand Forest Department at the Corbett Wildlife Training Centre at Kalagarh, Uttarakhand. The project is aimed at institutionalizing wildlife conservation and protection training for frontline staff through the Corbett Wildlife Training Centre (CWTC). Job Responsibilities involve: • Developing a strategy for institutionalising the training program of Forest Dept. and other enforcement agencies’ personnel on wildlife conservation and protection measures through the CWTC. • Leading and coordinating the implementation of WWF-India’s capacity building project in CWTC, Kalagarh, Uttarakhand. • Coordinating with the Director-CWTC, Kalagarh, and Director-Corbett Tiger Reserve as well as with other relevant Officers of the Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh Forest Departments and other Government agencies for smooth implementation of the project at CWTC. • Providing assistance to the WWF teams in Terai Arc Landscape – Uttarakhand for execution of programmatic activities as and when required. • Coordinating with the WWF-India’s landscape coordinators for implementation of various capacity building requirements in the different landscapes. • Responsible for all financial targets set in the CWTC capacity building project contract and any other specific projects that the incumbent will be involved with. • Maintaining a healthy working relationship with the local authorities including the different departments of the state government of Uttarakhand, and other enforcement forces, local NGOs, CBOs and other institutions. • Providing written quarterly updates on progress of different projects against a pre-designed work plan and update on the fund situation (income and expenses) to the Secretariat. • Communicating the process and conservation achievements to the Secretariat on a regular basis. • Assisting WWF-India’s landscape teams to plan, fund-raise, and implement capacity building programs for frontline staff of Forest Dept. and other agencies for wildlife conservation and monitoring. Prerequisites for the position include: 1. Ph.D. / M.Sc. in Wildlife Conservation/ Ecology/ Sociology or related field; 2. Minimum three year’s experience in training of different government departments for wildlife conservation, protection, governance and related issues. Desired Skills: • Experience in working in the Government and NGO sector, especially on capacity building issues would be desirable • Excellent communication skills (written, oral and presentation) Location: Corbett Wildlife Training Centre, Kalagarh, Uttarakhand. The salary and benefits will be commensurate with the candidates experience and academic background and the overall WWF-India salary structure.
