Finance and Accounts AssistantPosted date: 21-Jul-2010
Location: New Delhi
Under the direction and supervision of the Manager—Grant and Finance, the Finance and Accounts Assistant is responsible for providing financial and accounting support services in order to ensure effective, efficient and accurate financial and specified administrative operations.
Specific Responsibilities
· Perform the day to day processing of financial transactions and accounting to ensure that project finances are maintained in an effective, up to date and accurate manner. · Maintain the financial and accounting records of partners and the Caritas India in relation to project. · Examine accounts submitted by partners and prepare reports for facilitation of further release of grants. This will include receipt and verification of invoices and requisitions for goods and services and ensuring that transactions comply with financial policies and procedures. · Prepare, verify, and process invoices and coding payment documents at Caritas India in relation to project. · Ensure data entry of financial transactions--batches of invoices and process backup reports. · Provide information to the Manager—Grant and Finance to respond to queries and issues raised by partners. · Maintain listing of accounts receivable and payable; general ledger, etc. · Assist in preparation of budgets and other monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, reports. · Assist in the grants release request preparations (from GFATM). · Assist in handling the banking operations in relation to project. · Provide administrative support, as needed in order to ensure effective and efficient office operations including preparation of purchase orders, travel and accommodation warrants and travel advances for personnel, maintenance of a filing system for all financial documents. · Ensure the confidentiality and security of all financial information. · Perform any other duties related to the Round 9 project, as necessary.
Qualification and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, or related field; • 3 years of experience in development projects, preferably in relation to grant and finance management including budgeting, financial reporting and analysis; • Preferably proven familiarity with large scale project operations.
Skills
• Track record of undertaking a range of tasks simultaneously, adherence to time lines and ensuring delivery of quality reports on grant and finance management • Sound ethics including the protection of proprietary and confidential information • Good written and verbal communication skills in English • Good coordination skills •Proficiency in standard financial software and reporting systems and MS Office Suite Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel, etc) • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team with various counterparts by maintaining strong working relationships.
Length of Assignment
Travel Finance and Accounts Assistant will be expected to travel in the northeastern states of India and should be available for meetings with partners/ donors, if necessary. |
