Project Coordinator: Agriculture Programme

Grameen Development Services (GDS) is a Lucknow based NGO established in 1993. The organization works for the economic and the social empowerment of the poor and marginalized sections of the society in the poverty concentrated regions within Bihar, U.P. and Rajasthan. The core sectoral focuses include livelihoods strengthening, women’s empowerment and disaster risk management.

The organization is looking for a Project Coordinator for its agriculture development programme being implemented in 7 districts of Eastern Uttar Pradesh and Northern Bihar in partnership with 5 other NGOs. The programme aims at developing context specific packages of Agricultural practices and promoting an appropriate institutional base among small and marginal farmers to support their basic requirements. The programme is approaching towards maturity and has already brought, within its direct fold, over 4000 small and marginal farmers from programme areas.

The incumbent will be responsible for overall coordination, review and monitoring of the programme and will be required to provide on-field handholding support to the field implementation teams.  

The incumbent will be based in Lucknow and will be required to travel extensively to the programme areas in UP and Bihar.

 

The incumbent will:

 

 

¨        Be a Post Graduate in Agriculture Sciences, preferably in Agronomy or Vegetable Sciences.

 

¨        Have a minimum of 5 years experience in designing and implementing field based Agriculture programmes.

¨        Have proven skill to provide handholding/guidance support to field based practitioners.

¨        Have good communication and training skills.

¨        Have good understanding on nature and scope of community based institutions. First hand experience on promoting/working with such institutions will be an added advantage.

¨        Have good experience in liaisoning and networking

¨        Have good documentation and reporting skills.

¨        Have strong sensitivity to gender and women’s issues

 

 

Salary: Rs. 15,000 per month (consolidated), subject to TDS

 

 

 

The Job Responsibilities of the incumbent would be:

 

¨        Coordination of the field execution efforts, rigorous review and monitoring of the programme, fine tuning the agricultural packages being developed in the field and regularly prepare analytical reports.

¨        Assessing training needs, designing and delivering structured training/capacity building programme for implementation team members, extension volunteers, and farmers.

¨        Networking and liaison with resource institutions, Agriculture institutions, mainstream banks and markets for linkage building.
