Senior Social Research Executive

Grameen Development Services (GDS) is a Lucknow based NGO established in 1993. The organization works for the economic and the social empowerment of the poor and marginalized sections of the society in the poverty concentrated regions within Bihar, U.P. and Rajasthan. The core sectoral focuses include livelihoods strengthening, women’s empowerment and disaster risk management.

GDS is looking for a ‘Senior Social Research Executive’ for its Livelihoods Resource Centre.

The position is based in Lucknow but the incumbent will require undertaking work related travel to various field project areas as and when needed.

The incumbent should:

 

 

¨        Be a Post Graduate in Social Sciences, preferably in Sociology or Economics.

 

¨        Have a minimum of 3 years experience in undertaking field based research pertaining to social sector.

¨        Have proven ability to independently carry out research based studies including preparing research design, data collection and analysis and report writing. Knowledge of computer based social research tools/techniques will be an added advantage.

¨        Have first hand experience of participatory social research tools and techniques.

¨        Have proven ability to finish tasks and assignments on time.

¨        Have good writing skills in both English and Hindi.

¨        Have an open mind and ability to derive learning from own and other’s experiences.

¨        Have strong sensitivity to gender and women’s issues.

 

 

Salary: Rs. 15,000 per month (consolidated), subject to TDS

 

 

 

The Job Responsibilities of the incumbent would be:

 

¨        To independently manage the research and documentation component of the resource centre in all its aspects.

¨        Preparation of documents for sharing and dissemination.

¨        Networking and liaison with research institutions and other stakeholders including government departments.
