Consultant Engineer

Tsunami Livelihood Project is being implemented by Indian Red Cross Society Tamil Nadu State Branch in Thanjavur district with the financial and support of Spanish Red Cross.

Multipurpose Net Mending Sheds will be constructed in order to provide space for carrying out the net mending activity of the fishermen in all the seasons. These sheds will also be used for meeting of the village folks, community functions, local education-cum-training etc.

Duties and Responsibilities

Provide technical assistance to the construction team.
It is a full-time job for a period of 6 months.
Report to the Honorary District Secretary of the Indian Red Cross Society, Thanjavur District Branch and the State Project Coordinator.
Coordinate with the construction team and monitor the activities on daily basis.
Prepare regular reports on the status of construction and communicate to IRCS district and state branches.
Prepare and submit a monthly activity report on project activities.

Required Selection Criteria

Good experience in planning, designing, implementing and monitoring construction activities.
Good understanding of the state construction policies.
Experience of working in and around Thanjavur coastal areas.
Excellent skills in written and spoken communication and ability to network.
Proficiency in the use of computer with common software and internet.

Qualification

Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering with Minimum 4 years’ experience (post qualification) in construction projects.

Salary:

Consolidated salary of around Rs.15,000/- per month depending upon the qualification and experience.

Language

Fluency in Tamil and English is required.
