PHFI, a public private initiative to build large scale human resource capacity in public health through its three pronged integrated charter of (a) establishing a network of 7 world class, India-relevant schools of public health & strengthening some of the existing schools (b) establishing standards for public health education through the formation of an accreditation agency and (c) strengthening research and policy in areas related to public health.

Project Profile:-
Addressing social determinants of health successfully is a long-term agenda which must be tackled through effective policies based on sound local evidence and context. Therefore, it is essential for efforts at the country level to invest in developing systems that will enable this to happen. We have started a research study that will facilitate the development of such a system for India through a rigorous scientific effort aimed at a high-quality and policy-relevant synthesis of the available evidence on social determinants of health in India through comprehensive literature review and original advanced analyses. This effort will integrate diverse evidence to identify the best ways to use the available evidence on social determinants of health and identify the major gaps to inform further development of research and policy to effectively reduce health inequities in India. Through close consultation with key stakeholders, we will explore development of a national health equity surveillance system and expand this research into a dynamic knowledge hub on social determinants of health that could provide rigorous information to develop policies and programmes in India to reduce health inequities and facilitate their impact evaluation.

Job Description / Responsibilities:

* Conduct relevant data searches and literature review
* Compile datasets and information in a logical manner
* Provide input for data analysis and interpretation
* Assist with scientific manuscript preparation
* Liaise with Biostatistician for data and analysis
* Update the Senior Study Investigators on a regular basis

Desired profile of the candidate:

Qualification: The ideal person is expected to have:

Essential: Postgraduate qualification in social sciences / economics / development studies

Desirable: (a) At least 2-3 years of professional experience;
(b) working knowledge of statistical package such as SPSS or STATA

Knowledge and skills:

* Experience in literature review
* Strong focus on attention to detail and rigorous methodological approach
* Results oriented and able to deliver on time
* Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work flexibly i.e., autonomously in small teams and with a wide range of varying stake holders
* Problem solving and analytical skills

Remuneration: Commensurate with skills
